Medical Education & Research Institute (MERI) is a non-profit organization which supports the advancement of medicine by providing bio-skills lab environments essential to medical and surgical training for healthcare professionals.

Our central U.S. location in Memphis, TN as well as our mobile support ability allow us to facilitate state-of-the-art, hands-on training and educational events for physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals from across the country and around the world. Our unique ability to coordinate all aspects of medical training is made possible in part by our exclusive partnership with the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation.

In order to better accommodate training in the evolving medical industry, we are currently expanding our Genesis team.  

This position reports to the Genesis Manager and performs various duties to support essential functions of the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation program.  

PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to promote general awareness of our Genesis Whole Body Donation Program within the regions we serve.  This is accomplished by developing working relationships with social workers, hospices, church groups, funeral homes, coroners, and other markets within the 18 states which the Genesis Foundation currently accepts donors. This is primarily a traveling role with approx.2-3 weeks of travel per month within the region we service. This role serves as a Genesis program spokesperson and provides in-services and presentations including exhibits when applicable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
(This is a summary list and not all inclusive of required job functions.)

  • Bring awareness and education of body donation to the public and Community Resources such as Social Workers, Hospice and funeral home personnel Register with states where we currently solicit that require filing and reporting
  • Schedules, develops and conducts in-service programs as needed
  • Proactively works with Marketing and Communications in the design of marketing plans and promotional materials
  • Document and record campaign actions and events for tracking and managing ROI
  • Stays abreast of current laws in all states regarding whole body donation and acts as a resource for community resources
  • Ensure compliance with our accrediting association (AATB) as it relates to donor referral, consent/authorization, acceptability and acquisition of whole-body donation
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
        Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 3 years related experience and/or training,         and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

       COMMUNICATION SKILLS
        Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; ability to speak effectively before groups publicly.  Must communicate         effectively with empathy and compassion.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

SOFTWARE SKILLS
Intermediate: Accounting, Contact Management, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing,
Apple/Mac device and software networking and environment.

        PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Must be available for regular travel to targeted locations within the regions we serve including overnight. Traveling will include driving of company owned or rented vehicle plus some airline travel.  

SCHEDULE

Normal office schedule is Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5:00pm. As this position involves high travel, scheduling outside of these times is expected.
