STAFF ACCOUNTANT (Part-Time)


PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll administration and support. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports and annual budgets, processing payroll, collecting pertinent information for third party audits, and will be the first point of contact for accounting issues. 


REPORTS TO
This position reports to the Finance Director. 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Processing all daily accounts payable 

2. Processing all daily accounts receivable grants 

3. Processing payments and receipts.

4. Assist in the closing of the financials each month.

5. Assist in the monthly preparation of departmental budget-to-actual financials. 

6. Assist in annual financial statement audit preparation and work papers.

7. Assist in annual budget and capital preparation and work papers. 

8. Monitor and maintain a record of employee's accrued PTO. 

9. Provide payroll information to third-party payroll service provider.

10. Process payroll timely and accurately.

11. Serve as the primary contact with the third-party payroll service and ensure accurate processing.

12. Perform routine, periodic financial analysis and prepares standard summary reports as requested by the Finance Director. 

13. Perform daily reconciliations to verify all transactions, resolve discrepancies, review deposits and follow up on outstanding checks.

14. Assist Finance Director in preparing for any other audits.

15. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Previous experience handling confidential information and records.

 

SKILLS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and conscious work ethic.
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
  • Advanced skills in Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Payroll Systems, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing, database


SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position, approx 3 days (24 hours) per week, office hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. Scheduling TBA with hiring manager
